Prof. Fernando Taccone

Prof. Fernando Taccone, director of the Gloria Crucis – Pul chair; director IV Passionist International Theological Congress

Fernando Tonino Taccone, born in Celano (AQ) in 1940, Passionist in 1958, priest in 1966. He attended the Pontifical Lateran University obtaining a Licentiate in Sacred Theology, a diploma in Pastoral Theology and a specialization in religious sociology. He was Provincial Delegate for the reopening of the first Passionist mission abroad, in Bulgaria, after the fall of the regime. He dedicated himself to preaching missions to the people and to spiritual exercises. The superiors engaged him in the formation of theologians, novices and as superior of various communities and shrines. As a consultant and head of the apostolate he led various city missions and organized courses and conferences on preaching. From 1996 to 2011 he taught Mission to the People and Mission to the Family at the Pontifical Lateran University. In 2003 he started and directed the Gloria Crucis Chair in the Lateran itself, organizing study seminars annually and taking care of the printing of the proceedings.

Father Joachim Rego

Superior General of the Passionists

Father Joachim Rego, 64, a native of Myanmar, was confirmed superior general of the Passionists. Father Joachim Rego was born in Yangon, Myanmar on August 16, 1954. He professed among the Passionists on January 17, 1976 and was ordained a priest on November 28, 1981. After a long experience in the missionary field and after the leadership of the religious province of the Passionists of Australia, he was elected superior general as successor of St. Paul of the Cross.
This second mandate, which will last six years, until 2024, will see the superior general engaged with the celebration of the Jubilee of the 300th anniversary of the birth of the Congregation of the Passionists, which began in 1720. During the general chapter, the new icon of the Congregation of the Passion was presented which will characterize the celebration of the third centenary of his birth1.

Communications
Father Joachim Rego at the IV Passionist International Theological Congress (2021) – as General of the Congregation – will give the lecture: The wisdom of the cross way of reconciliation in a plural world and will celebrate the closing Holy Mass of the Congress.

professional since 1979, master in Media Studies (New School, New York, 1993), over twenty years deputy director of the Holy See Press Office (1994-2016), director in charge of L’eco di San Gabriele, General Consultor of the Passionist Congregation (2018 – 2024), Director
diplomat of the San Marino embassy to the Holy See, President of the Jubilee Commission on the occasion of the Third Centenary of the Foundation of the Passionist Congregation.

In the 2021 International Theological Congress he has the role of Moderator of the session and moderator of the Round Table.

 

Vincenzo Buonomo

 

Vincenzo BUONOMO is a Professor of International Law and International Organization at the Pontifical Lateran University (Rome) of which he is currently Rector Magnificus.

Lecturer in international and diplomatic law at the Pontifical Ecclesiastical Academy, he is the author of monographs and essays on human rights, religious freedom, cooperation and development including Human rights in international relations: the law and practice of the United Nations, Rome 1997, Cooperation and Development. International rules, Bologna 2005, The law of the international community. Principles and rules for global governance, Rome 2010, Code for international disciplines, Rome 2010, Europe and human dignity. Human rights and philosophy, Rome 2014.
Consultor of the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue and of the Pontifical Council for Legislative Texts; Councilor of the Vatican City State.

Since 1994 he has represented the Holy See at the European Commission for Democracy through Law (“Venice Commission”) and at the Advisory Committee of the United Nations Human Rights Council.
